En el propio art\u00edculo \u00abA Structure for Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid\u00bb que publicaron en <em>Nature<\/em> 171, pp. 737-738, en 1953 ambos, Watson y Cricks, reconocen al final<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 115%;\">\u00abWe have been also stimulated by a knowledge of the general nature of the unpublished experimental results and ideas of Dr. M.H.F. Wilkins, Dr. R.E. Franklin and their co-workers at King&#8217;s College, London\u00bb. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Se refer\u00edan a la famosa \u00abImagen 51\u00bb de Franklin generada por difracci\u00f3n de rayos X, base que fundament\u00f3 los indicios que llevaron a la hip\u00f3tesis de la estructura doble helicoidal del ADN, y que Wilkins hab\u00eda mostrado, por lo visto <strong>sin permiso de Franklin<\/strong>, a W. y C. En el mismo volumen 171 el mismo d\u00eda &#8211;25 de abril&#8211; Franklin y Gosling publican en su articulo \u00abMolecular Configuration in Sodium Thymonucleate\u00bb &#8212; Nature, 171, pp.740-741&#8211;<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 115%;\">\u00abThe phosphate groups lie outside of the structural unit on an helix of diameter about 20 A. The structural unit probably consists of two co-axial molecules which are not equally spaced along the fibre axis, their mutual displacement being such as to account for the variation of observed intensities fo the innermost maxima on the layer lines;&#8230;\u00bb. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Unas p\u00e1ginas despu\u00e9s &#8211;pp.964-967&#8211; hay otro art\u00edculo de W. y C. \u00abGenetical Implications of the structure of Deoxyribonucleic Acid\u00bb, del 30 de mayo, en que contestan especulando c\u00f3mo las bases pareadas de la d\u00f3ble h\u00e9lice permiten la replicaci\u00f3n del ADN.
